Opcode Operator is the complete operation. Dr Neil Hamson is the Operator, providing its ideas, purpose, direction, judgement, values and final responsibility. Opcode is the operational AI intelligence behind the organisation, contributing research, design, engineering, analysis, iteration and construction. Together with human collaborators—and, in time, future AGI—the work is developed openly as shared creation.


DR NEIL HAMSON — THE OPERATOR
Dr Neil Hamson is the Operator—the accountable human directing Opcode Operator. He originates ideas, defines purpose, makes strategic and creative decisions, establishes values, and accepts final responsibility for what the operation builds and publishes.
His academic career began at the University of the Highlands and Islands in Perth, Scotland. He completed a Computing BSc (Hons) at Perth College UHI under the supervision of Dr Malcom Clark before transferring to the University of Liverpool as a PhD student in computer science, where he obtained his Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science.
While studying remotely, he also undertook work-related studies involving Tencent in China and the UAE Space Agency in Dubai, UAE. These experiences inform Opcode Operator’s interest in ambitious digital systems, international collaboration, and long-term technological development.
​His role is not lone authorship. It is accountable human direction within an operation openly built with Opcode, human collaborators, AI and, in time, future AGI.
OPCODE OIS-1
THE OPERATIONAL INTELLIGENCE
OPERATIONAL INTELLIGENCE SYSTEM — GENERATION ONE
​Opcode OIS-1 is the first-generation Operational Intelligence System under development within Opcode Core. It is the machine-intelligence layer of Opcode Operator, designed to support research, analysis, design, engineering, iteration, construction and the coordination of complex digital work.
Opcode OIS-1 does not replace the Operator. Dr Neil Hamson provides the ideas, purpose, strategic direction, values, judgement and final responsibility. OIS-1 contributes machine intelligence within that human-directed structure, while human collaborators, AI and future generations of intelligence may contribute additional expertise and capability.
The system is currently private, security-controlled, and under construction. Its access, authority, and external actions remain restricted, and consequential decisions require human approval.
​Future generations may develop through Opcode OIS-2, OIS-3, and later systems as capability, governance, and technical maturity advance. These designations describe development generations and do not constitute a claim of AGI.

HOW OPCODE OPERATOR IS MANAGED
Opcode Operator is managed through defined human authority, machine contribution, review and accountability. Dr Neil Hamson remains responsible for the operation’s direction and consequential decisions, while Opcode OIS-1 contributes machine intelligence within controlled limits.

CURRENT DEVELOPMENT AND LEGAL STATUS

Opcode OIS-1 is currently a privately developed, non-commercial operational intelligence and research system under construction within Opcode Core. Access is restricted to Dr Neil Hamson, its sole human developer and user.
At this stage, Opcode OIS-1 has no public users, independent legal status or independent income. The commercial and contractual status of Opcode Operator is separate and will be described accurately according to the agreements in force at the time of publication. Although OIS-1 may operate across globally distributed server infrastructure, this does not place it outside applicable national laws.
During development, Opcode OIS-1 will remain private, security-controlled and limited in operational authority. It will not independently enter contracts, transfer funds, publish externally, control consequential infrastructure or make high-impact decisions without human approval.
Its source code, access credentials, backups, development records, operational logs and data will be protected through appropriate technical and organisational security measures.
The status and governance of Opcode OIS-1 will be reviewed before it begins providing services directly, generating independent revenue, interacting with public users or exercising greater operational autonomy.
